Professions continued

Enchanting is one profession that has a strong barrier to entry.  I am sure it easier now, but back in Vanilla being an enchanter meant your character was always poor because you always disenchanted every drop you received that you could not use to turn it into enchanting mats.  To make matters worse the accepted way to level enchanting was to repeatedly enchant your own gear over and over again.  The introduction of enchanting scrolls has made the enchanting so much easier to make money with, no longer do you need to spend time barking your wares in trade chat for tips.  Now you can simply sell your enchants on the Auction house.

Leveling inscription is such a grind, and many of the glyphs in the game come only from drops found in Wrath era dungeons.  These two factors has kept inscription to be a high performing money maker.  A warning to those who are looking at inscription, this tradeskill requires the most real world effort on your part to make and sell.

Jewelcrafting is fairly balanced as in terms of accessibility vs barrier to entry.  Many recipes are available from the trainers.  With more desirable recipes being purchased by turning in jewelcrafting tokens which are earned by completing dailies.  What makes jewelcrafting unique is everyone needs gems.  While technically that may not be true, most of us feel a sense of guilt if we leave any gem sockets unfilled even on gear we are not intending to keep.
