Focus on your Intent

A friend asked me the other night what do you do with all that gold.  (I had just mentioned to him what I had made on transmogrification, not what I had in total.)  It got me to thinking and asking questions of myself.  Why spend time making pretend money in a make believe world?  Why not just spend your time playing the game?

I found myself questioning why I play this part of the game as I was having to reset up my auction groups in Tradeskill Master.  This was frustrating mainly because it seemed to never end due to having two characters flipping transmog gear on two servers.

I was reminded why I play this portion of the game when after completely reforging all my shaman’s gear to match the new stat priorities I finally got one of the axes I had been killing Deathwing every week in Dragon Soul for (No'Kaled, the Elements of Death).  Right after equipping this axe I needed to reforge again most of my gear.  I also needed to swap out a number of enchants.

I was reminded again why I play this subgame within the main game why my wife needed some gold and gear on another server.  She had rolled a few alts on another server to be closer to a friend.  While she will make a fair amount of gold as she levels, she is on a server without access to any heirlooms so a few key pieces of gear purchased from the AH will keep her progressing quickly.  Also by adding her to my auctioneer’s vanity guild she has avoided the near incessant ninja guild invites.

The last reminder happened late the other night when my friend who plays on a another server was discussing making one of the engineering mounts.  She had levelled engineering to max twice on this character, having dropped it for stat bonuses from Jewelcrafting  for raiding.  Having leveled engineering to max myself we were lamenting the challenge of finding enough khorium to get a character to max level engineering.  On  a whim i logged into my transmog auctioneer on her server and saw someone had listed khorium ore at a incredibly low price.  Bars were over 200g each, but ore was under 20g.  So I bought it out and sent it to her as a surprise.  I am expecting she will post up any unused bars to the Auction House for a healthy profit.

This is one reason I play this part of the game.  Ultimately the explanation is more than I can put in a quick in game chat between killing mobs.
